On the lagoon there was a flat rock called Marooners' Rock, and when the tide came up it was covered. One afternoon the children were there when two pirates rowed up with Tiger Lily, the Indian princess, tied hand and foot. They meant to leave her on the rock to drown. Peter imitated Hook's voice out of the dark water and ordered them to cut her free, and they obeyed. Then the real Hook came, and there was a fight. Peter was wounded in the arm, and Wendy was flown away by the Never bird's help. The water rose over Marooners' Rock. "To die will be an awfully big adventure," said Peter, but he did not really want to die. Then he saw the Never bird's nest floating by, and he sailed home in it.
