The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

2 — The Munchkins
Dorothy woke up when the house fell to the ground with a bump. She opened the door and saw a country of great beauty, with green grass, tall trees and bright flowers. Three little men and a little old woman came to meet her. They were the Munchkins, and the old woman was the Witch of the North. "You are welcome, noble Sorceress," she said. "You have killed the Wicked Witch of the East. Your house fell on her." Dorothy looked and saw two feet under the corner of the house, with silver shoes on them. The old Witch of the North took the silver shoes and gave them to Dorothy. "Wear them," she said. "They have a charm, but nobody knows what it is." Dorothy wanted to go home to Kansas. "You must go to the Emerald City and ask the great Oz," said the Witch.
