Little Red Riding Hood

1 — Into the woods
Once there was a little girl. Everyone loved her. Her grandmother loved her most of all. One day the grandmother made a red hood for the girl. The girl wore it every day, so people called her Little Red Riding Hood. The little hood was bright and warm, and she loved it very much. One morning her mother said, "Your grandmother is sick. Take this basket to her. There is bread, cake, and a bottle of wine inside. Walk fast, and do not leave the path. The woods are dangerous. There are wolves there. Stay on the path and do not talk to anyone." "Yes, mother," said the girl. She put on her red hood and went out. Grandmother lived in the woods, far from the village. The basket was heavy, but the girl was strong. The girl walked along the path. The sun was warm and the birds sang. Little Red Riding Hood was happy. She picked a few flowers as she walked. Soon a wolf came out from the trees. He was big and grey, but the girl was not afraid. She did not know that wolves are bad. But the wolf was clever and very hungry. "Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood," said the wolf. "Good morning," said the girl. "Where are you going?" asked the wolf. "I am going to my grandmother's house," said the girl. "She is sick, so I am taking her some food." "And where does your grandmother live?" "In a little house under the three big trees," said the girl. "It is at the end of the path." The wolf thought, "This little girl is good to eat. The old woman is good to eat too. I must be clever, and then I can eat them both." So he walked beside the girl for a while. Then he said, "Look at the pretty flowers. Why not pick some flowers for your grandmother?" The girl looked at the flowers. They were beautiful. "Yes," she thought, "Grandmother will be happy." So she left the path and ran after the flowers. But the wolf ran fast to the grandmother's house.
