Lilliput had an enemy. It was Blefuscu, another little country across the sea. The two countries fought about eggs. The people of Lilliput broke their eggs at the small end, and the people of Blefuscu broke them at the big end. One day the Emperor told me that the enemy had fifty big ships. They wanted to come and take Lilliput. I made fifty strong ropes with hooks. Then I walked into the sea. In the deep middle I swam for a short time. The enemy saw me and jumped out of their ships in fear. They shot arrows at my face, but I put on my glasses. I tied the ropes to all the ships and pulled them back to Lilliput. The Emperor was very happy and made me a great lord.
