A Christmas Carol

5 — Christmas Present
The second spirit sat on a throne of turkeys, geese, sausages, pies and fruit, and held a burning torch. "Come in and know me better, man!" it cried. It carried Scrooge to Bob Cratchit's house, where the family had four rooms and a very small goose. They were poorly dressed, but they were happy. Bob came home carrying his son Tiny Tim on his shoulder, for the boy had a crutch and iron on his legs. "He told me," said Bob, "that he hoped the people saw him in church, because he was a cripple, and it might be pleasant for them to remember on Christmas Day who made lame beggars walk." Then they ate the goose and the pudding, and Bob raised his glass. "A merry Christmas to us all, my dears. God bless us." "God bless us every one," said Tiny Tim, the last of all. Scrooge stood in the corner and could not take his eyes off the little boy.
