The Giant's heart melted. "I have been so selfish," he said. He went down to the garden. The children saw him and ran away. The garden became winter again. But the little boy did not run. His eyes were full of tears, and he did not see the Giant. The Giant came up softly behind him. He lifted the boy gently and put him into the tree. The tree blossomed at once. Birds came and sang. The little boy threw his arms around the Giant's neck and kissed him. The other children saw this and came back. With them came spring. "It is your garden now, little children," said the Giant. He took a big axe and broke down the wall.
